So far, it seems like a good, wild read with plenty of jokes. Wilson always described himself as a "domesticated primate of average intelligence", a fairly humble description, but nonetheless...

I am amazed "C.T." is in your local library. I'm re-reading it now for the fourth or fifth time. Check it out--if you want. It's a lot easier of a read than "Illuminatus!"--a nd (relatively) less weird, but not too much less. It's all about R.A.W.'s experiments with altered conciousness, through psychedelics, Crowleyan magick and other exercises. There's a really sad bit when his youngest daughter was killed in a botched shop robbery--R.A.W.s response is really moving. Overall, an excellent book--probably the best place to start with Wilson.

R.I.P. to the coolest cosmic shamanThe Purple Gooroohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01543217482152905385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28890376.post-1168885564844826882007-01-15T18:26:00.000+00:002007-01-15T18:26:00.000+00:00RIP Mr. Wilson.I'm afraid that I'm too thick to re...RIP Mr. Wilson.
I'm afraid that I'm too thick to really 'get it'. I started reading the 'Illuminatus Trilogy' some time ago but I couldn't keep up with it. So much for degrees in English! Amazingly, my local library has the 'Cosmic Trigger' books in stock (if you knew of the general state of our libraries you'd know how amazing this is);perhaps I should try them. The philosophy all seems pretty wild, so it's impossible to know where to start when you don't KNOW where to start. Seems like he's left a massive body of work. Another counter-culture icon leaves us behind.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
